The best free printable habit trackers (and when to pay)
If you want a free printable habit tracker, three sites are worth your printer: SaturdayGift, World of Printables, and OnPlanners. Between them they cover colour, a clean monthly grid, and almost any planner size, and for a lot of people that is the end of the search. Here is what each does best — and where a paid tracker earns its keep.
SaturdayGift is the one for colour
SaturdayGift publishes more than fifty free habit tracker PDFs — daily, weekly, and monthly grids, plus mandala and challenge versions — in seven colours and black-and-white. They print on US Letter, and the page notes that some designs resize to A4. The license is personal use only: you can print and fill them, but not share the blank files. If you want a tracker that looks nice on the fridge and you don't mind ink, start here.
World of Printables is a colour-coded monthly grid
The World of Printables habit tracker PDF is one 30-day grid: habits down the side, days across the top, a colour key, and a notes box, with room for up to twelve habits a month. It is built to drop into a bullet journal or planner, sized 8.5 × 11 inches, and there are twenty-plus styles across the site. Personal use only again. The basic PDF downloads straight from the post; the sharper four-theme version sits behind a product page with a free coupon code.
OnPlanners has the widest range of sizes
If your tracker has to fit a specific planner, OnPlanners has the sizes the others don't: A4, A5, Letter, Half Letter, Filofax, and Happy Planner (Mini, Big, Classic), across twenty-plus weekly, monthly, and 30-, 100-, and 365-day designs in black-and-white, casual, and floral. One catch worth knowing: the free download is watermarked and non-editable — removing the watermark costs $1.97 for a single PDF, or $14.97 for its 1,000-template library. For a plain printed grid that is still usable free; for a clean one, it is a soft paywall.
What free trackers tend to share
Style aside, free habit trackers tend to share three traits. None is a flaw — each is just a place a paid tracker can be different:
- They are built to look nice. Colour washes, script fonts, and illustrated borders are the norm, which costs more ink per page than a plain grid.
- They are English-first. SaturdayGift and World of Printables are English-only; OnPlanners adds a handful of European languages. None goes much further.
- They are undated. You get a generic grid numbered 1 to 31, or nothing — not a real calendar year with the weekdays already in place.
That is simply what free, decorative printables are. Whether it costs you anything depends on what you want.
Where $19 earns it
Our habit tracker is the paid answer to those three traits. It is text and hairlines — no fills, no shading, no illustration — so it prints close to free. It comes in 32 languages, well past the handful the free sites manage, in A4, A5, or Letter. And it is dated: real weekdays, not empty squares, which changes what a missed day tells you. Pick your year, add up to six habits, and print the same clean file as often as you like.
If free and colourful is what you want, the three above are worth printing today — no notes. If you want no decoration, your own language, and real dates, that is the $19 we ask once.
